We’re often so scared to make mistakes or “do it wrong” that we end up doing nothing at all – this panel is for those who want to do better and be part of the change, but don’t know where to start.
While we sometimes need to have uncomfortable conversations to learn and grow, discussions on diversity and allyship are often just “preaching to the choir” – we need allies to step up; particularly people who have not experienced discrimination. So this is a rare case in 2022 where it’s ok for a panel to be full of white guys – men from across the music industry who will share how they learned about the need for allyship, and what practical actions they take to ensure safe and diverse work environments for all.
Moderated by Vanessa Vakharia of Goodnight Sunrise (and her bandmate/ally David Kochberg), this panel will be a casual, non-judgmental, practical discussion of small- and large-scale things everyone can do to make every single person in the music industry feel like they truly belong. A range of panelists will share how allyship plays a large role in their corner of the industry, and how they make sure their spaces and events are truly welcoming and inclusive!
