March 9, 2023 – In The Sync Cafe @ 1PM ET : MARTYN WARE, Multi-Platinum Producer – Human League/Heaven 17 Co-Founder and Legendary Music Producer
This is going to be one of our best Sync Cafes all year – a discussion of music, sync and production with one of my heros, my friend, the co-founder of The Human League and Heaven 17, Producer/songwriter/musician Martyn Ware.
His credits, addition to his work in The Human League and Heaven 17 include producing Terrence Trent D’Arby’s multi-platinum album “The Hardline According to…”, producing Tina Turner’s comeback single “Let’s Stay Together”, and through his project, the British Electronic Foundation, has worked with artists ranging from Kim Wilde, Chaka Khan, Belly Preston, Green Gartside (Scritti Politti), Billy Preston, Lalah Hathaway, Paula Yates, Andy Bell (Erasure), Boy George… well, the credits just go on and on – for more check out his discography.
From The Human League to the British Electric Foundation and Heaven 17, Martyn Ware helped define Sheffield as the epicentre of electronic pop in the 1980s.
Later producing multi-million selling records by the likes of Tina Turner and Terence Trent D’Arby (now known as Sananda Maitreya), he has also gone on develop parallel careers as a soundscape designer and educator.
Martyn is not only one of the definers of the Sheffield sound as a co-founder of the iconic pop groups the Human League and Heaven 17, he currently works as a producer, educator and creator.
Here’s a link to what I think are some of his best from Heaven 17.
And in our conversation, we’ll discuss his career, the importance of good production in music, the state of the music industry and of course sync and composition for visual and interactive media.
This is a must attend Sync Cafe, it’s 100% free and if you want to join us next week for both sessions, all you need to do is click the button below to get the link (it is the same link for both).
