The Canadian Association for the Advancement of Music and the Arts (C.A.A.M.A.) is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to the commercial development of Canadian sound recording business domestically and internationally. Founded in 1991, C.A.A.M.A. was Provincially Incorporated in 1993, (No 1006780) and is the only association that represents Canadian musicians. Presently there are over 2000 performing artist members of the cultural industries sound recording sector. C.A.A.M.A. works to provide the industry and its members with free educational programming and non-commercial showcase opportunities.

C.A.A.M.A.s objectives are to further the interests of all segments of the independent music industry, both domestically and internationally, and to ensure the preservation and enactment of laws favourable to our industry.

C.A.A.M.A. is a professional trade organization for the Canadian independent music industry. Since 1991, the CAAMA has been the principle advocate for the growth and development of Canadian independent music world-wide.

C.A.A.M.A. is governed by a seven member Board of Directors elected biannually and meet from time to time during the year at private executive meetings. Members are invited to meet annually at a general meeting held in Toronto in early March. C.A.A.M.A gets approval for Major activities from its members and communicates to them via newsletter and e-mail or fax. Future information will be posted on this website. C.A.A.M.A is funded by membership fees ($50.00), which are raised through artist showcase application fees, which include a two-year membership in C.A.A.M.A.

Additional funding is raised on a project to project basis and is derived from a combination of public funding and sponsorships.
